[The grip on his coat after he reached out for Vash's arm seemed to settle him a bit, and he nodded slowly, his thoughts redirected surprisingly easily in the way that one's mind only did when they were well and truly sloshed.]

Yeah, okay. Upstairs is good, yeah.

[He shuffled along with them, as steadily as he could be thanks to their help, and when he heard his name, he turned to watch the man between them, quiet, his eyes half-lidded. It might have even seemed as if he hadn't heard what was being said, with how long it took him to respond, but then his brow furrowed, thoughts obviously trying to form. Eventually, he nodded again, his face shifting into a sad little frown that he turned to Vash on the end, and when he spoke again, his voice was quieter, as if he were trying to match the volume of the other's words. Monkey see, monkey do, his brain was a bit on autopilot at this point.]

I'm tryin'. I wanna do better, been tryin'a be a better person for you. I wanna take care of you, you're not a monster, Vash, you're not, you're th'only good person on the whole planet, an' I don't want you to go.

I don' even have a Punisher anymore, d'ja know? That...that one belongs t'Nico. 'M carryin' it for when we find 'im. I don't...I don't wanna take his gun if he's gone. 'S not mine, it's his. Only gotta sidearm, now. An' I don' even take the drugs anymore! [He tried to grin at that. It was good news, right? Those fuckers are what almost did him in, he's not taking any chances, now! He's trying to be safer, he's trying to be kinder, like Vash had always wanted him to be!

His words were slowing down, though, the thoughts slogging through the alcohol in his brain at a much more leisurely pace than they had a few minutes ago. He was having trouble even registering the things he said, would simply had a thought drift through his mind, leave his lips, and then evaporate for the next one to take its place.]
