If Knives expected Vash to be disappointed, or to argue, to try to persuade him, well. He is not getting none of these things. Vash just keeps walking quietly next to him, for a while neither words nor strong emotions coming from him, as he considers the words. There is sadness, that their sisters did agree to lash out, but much like his brother, he cannot and will not blame them for the choices they have made. But the more he learns about the future, the more he loses faith that he will ever be anything but sad, anyway. So he smiles, as he always does.
